Beyond Stigma develops evidence-based programmes to address self-stigma and feelings of worthlessness and shame among vulnerable populations, primarily in the developing world.

Our purpose is to promote mental health and wellbeing among individuals on the margins of society by equipping them with practical skills and confidence to develop deep self-worth and personal agency.

Beyond Stigma focuses on HIV self-stigma and gender-based violence. Beyond Stigma has partnered with Zimbabwean-based organizations: Zimbabwe Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS (ZNNP+), TrocaireCONNECT Z.I.S.T, and more recently, The Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research Zimbabwe (CeSHHAR) and Zvandiri Africaid to complete multiple research projects and ongoing interventions. Self-stigma can lead to serious physical and mental health consequences for those living with HIV or experiencing gender-based violence such as medication rejection and feelings of shame, self-blame, worthlessness and isolation. Beyond Stigma aims to reduce the negative impacts of self-stigma in Zimbabwe through formative research and programs such as 'We are the Change' and Wakakosha. Take a look below to learn more.

''As thoughts are universal, I want to show the world what has happened to me, share my journey of questioning my own thoughts to set myself free from the pain and bitterness I experienced'' - Moud
