Poetry & Letter Collection
Explore a collection of poetry, letters and creative writing shaped by personal experiences of internal stigma, self-worth, identity and change.
Words from lived experience.
Written during the Wakakosha (‘You’re Worth It’) course delivered by Beyond Stigma and Zvandiri in Harare, Zimbabwe in 2022, this collection of poetry celebrates life in all its complexities, serving as a testament to the resilience and optimism of the young people who wrote them. While they vary in style, the poems all map the same journey: out of self-stigma and into self-love, on the road to transforming their mental health and wellbeing.
There is a Treasure in Me: Poetry on overcoming self-stigma from young people living with HIV in Zimbabwe
Dear Amai
It is a little book with a big heart.
Inside is a collection of raw, honest, and heartfelt letters written by young people living with HIV from Zimbabwe, who have spent time in self-inquiry, identifying and questioning deeply held beliefs relating to internal stigma, shame, guilt, disclosure, judgements, body, sex, relationships and forgiveness.
