Beyond Stigma develops evidence-based programmes to address internal stigma and feelings of worthlessness and shame among vulnerable populations, primarily in the Global South.
Our purpose is to promote mental health and wellbeing among individuals on the margins of society by equipping them with practical skills and confidence to develop deep self-worth and personal agency.
Our latest:
Beyond Stigma and Zvandirri, supported by ViiV Positive Action, delivered the Wakakosha project, dedicated to addressing the internalised stigma experienced by young people living with HIV in Zimbabwe. Through peer support, young people are transitioning from self-stigma to self-worth.

Beyond Stigma focuses on HIV internal stigma and gender-based violence. Beyond Stigma has partnered with international organisations worldwide to implement projects and interventions. Internal stigma can lead to serious physical and mental health consequences for those living with HIV or experiencing gender-based violence, such as medication rejection and feelings of shame, self-blame, worthlessness and isolation. Beyond Stigma aims to reduce the negative impacts of internal stigma through formative research and evidence-based programs such as 'We are the Change' and "Wakakosha".
